Delgado Denies Goal with Penalty Save

Man of the Match: RSL Academy product Fernando Delgado was tasked with making several massive saves to keep his team in the match, including his first professional penalty save. In the 42nd minute after a tackle by Omar Alba inside the 18-yard-box set up a penalty attempt for Abdoulaye Cissoko, Delgado was able to first make the outstretched save and then block the follow-up shot, preventing what appeared to be the go-ahead opportunity for Tacoma. Delgado finished the night with four saves.

Telling Stats: RSL Academy midfielder Gilberto Garcia became the first current Academy member to make an offensive contribution this season, providing the assist for Duncan Jarvie in the 66th minute in what was his professional debut. Former RSL Academy products Terron Williams and Ilijah Paul have both netted goals, while Paul and Marcus Vasquez have recorded assists.

What You Missed: Real Monarchs dropped a 2-1 result at home to Tacoma Defiance. Forward Duncan Jarvie was able to score his first professional goal, assisted by Gilberto Garcia. But a pair of second-half goals from Tacoma gave the visiting team the 2-1 win.

What's Next?: Real Monarchs will travel to Houston, Texas to meet Houston Dynamo 2 at SaberCats Stadium on May 21, 5:00 p.m. MT.
