Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs News Release
LITTLE FALLS, NY In an exhibition game that echoed the Mohawk Valley Diamond Dawgs' game on Thursday night against Oneonta, the Diamond Dawgs needed every single inning to pick up the 4-3 victory over the Capital City Reds of Ottawa. Mohawk Valley needed two to pick up the win, and got just that in the bottom of the eighth to seal the victory.
Michael Snow (Marian University) kicked off the scoring for Capital City in the second, thanks to an error by the Mohawk Valley second baseman. The error allowed Antonio Dominguez (Carl Sandberg CC) to score all the way from second.Four straight base hits in the fifth would give the Diamond Dawgs the lead in the fifth, as RBI singles by Hunter Sibley (Millville, NJ/Iona) and Keegan Leffler (Wilton, NY/Herkimer) scored the newest Diamond Dawg, Luke Turner (King of Prussia, PA/York) and Sibley.
Tucker Criswell (Methodist University) gave the Reds the lead right back on a huge two-run moon to center field ball that scored himself and Ethan Hunt. Not to be outdone, however, Nick Cimillo (Airmont, NY/Manhattan) cracked a pitch over the left field wall to tie the game up. The Diamond Dawgs would take the lead for good on an RBI single by Luc Scudalleri (Roswell, GA/Georgia College) that would score Turner. That would be all Mohawk Valley reliever Mike Murray (Green Brook, NJ/Hofstra) would need, only allowing two hits in the ninth to wrap up the save for the Diamond Dawgs. Carson Coon (Meriden, CT/Manhattan) would pick up the win, while Jacob Dauer (Cloud County CC) was saddled with the loss for Capital City
The Diamond Dawgs will be back at Veteran's Memorial Park on Saturday for a 5:05 game with the Glens Falls Dragons. After the game, the team invites everyone onto the field for a viewing of The Sandlot. Meanwhile, the Reds will head back to Ottawa tomorrow for the 22U NCBL Brewers Tournament, beginning at 11 AM at Hamilton Yards.
