Degurse Scores Game Winner for Cats

Huntsville Channel Cats News Release


Huntsville, AL – Mike Degurse scored at the 19:09 mark of the third period breaking a 1-1 tie and giving the Huntsville Channel Cats a 2-1 win over Knoxville Ice Bears Saturday night.

Degurse scored with an assist from Claude Amstutz and Allan Carr giving the Cats their ninth win in a row.

Carr put the Cats on the board at the 13:34 mark of the first with an assist from James Patterson.

Knoxville tied the game at the 2:07 mark of the second on a goal by K.J. Vorhees with the assist from Ryan Hughes and Craig Dejarlais.

Matt Carmichael stopped 23 shots giving him his league leading 17th win. Blaine Russell stopped 39 shots in the loss.

The Channel Cats return home next Thursday to take on the Cape Fear Fire Antz. Cape Fear beat Winston-Salem 4-2 Saturday night extending their winning streak to four games. The Channel Cats are now 21-7 and are 14 points ahead of Winston-Salem in the standings.
