Defensive Lineman E.J. Burt Returns to Orlando Predators
June 16, 2010 - Arena Football League (AFL)
Orlando Predators News Release
ORLANDO - The Orlando Predators are proud to announce that they have signed veteran lineman Emmanuel Jamaal 'E.J.' Burt. He was first signed by the Predators during the 2003 season in which he played 16 games. Burt also played for the Philadelphia Soul, Chicago Rush, and the Utah Blaze.
"It is good to come back and be home, and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else" said Burt. "I feel good to come back to a team that I started out with."
Burt's first taste in the AFL was with the Orlando Predators in the 2003 season alternating between the offensive and defensive lineman positions. At the time, he was thought of as one of the most interesting signings in Preds history. He was signed by former Head Coach Fran Papasedero after he was passed over by every team in the AFL for being too small despite recording 27.5 sacks in af2.
At the end of the 2003 season, he signed a two year contract extension and played all games in both the 2004 and 2005 seasons. During his time with the Predators he earned recognition as one of three Predators players who were voted into the AFL's All-Rookie Team. In just three seasons he became the Predators career leader in sacks (24.5) and attained the rookie record for forced fumbles for a season (8), also a Predators single-season record.
E.J. Burt will make his return to "The Jungle" Friday, June 18th when the Predators take on the Jacksonville Sharks. Kick off is at 8:00 p.m. For single game and season tickets call (407) 648-4444.
