Defenders host inaugural festival/cook-off at Dodd Stadium

NORWICH, CT- With the 2008 baseball season over in Southeastern Connecticut and Dodd Stadium vacant, what better than a festival/cook-off? The Connecticut Defenders will host their Inaugural Beer Festival featuring a Chili & Wing Cook-off at Dodd Stadium from 1-6pm on Saturday, October 11.

"Were extremely excited about this unique event," said Defenders General Manager Charlie Dowd. "It gives us another opportunity to connect with our fans as well as team up with local businesses to provide an affordable fun filled family outing."

The Defenders have teamed up with local restaurants, bars, cafes and placed them in a cook-off battle to see who has the best wings and chili in the area. Vendors such as Irene's Family Restaurant, Pizzeria 32, Engine No. 6 Pizza, Y Knot Café, Stott's At Bat, Mrs. B's Convenient Cuisine, Happy's Restaurant, Voo Doo Grill, Log Cabin Restaurant and Harp & Dragon Pub will compete for a chance to showcase their product during the Defenders 2009 season.

Their will be tons of chili and wings but fans are going to need something to wash it down. Levine Distributors the event sponsor will have over 50 selections of brews for all fans 21 years or older to sample.

Fans will enjoy live music while watching college football on the video board and more importantly act as the judges. Each fan will receive a ballot upon entry and will have to try as many samples as possible before casting their vote for best chili and wings.
