Defender Tribbett Earns Team of the Week After Leading League in Interceptions

March 26, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Nashville SC News Release

NASHVILLE - A tough 1-1 draw for Nashville SC last weekend did not go unnoticed in the USL Championship's Team of the Week awards. Defender Ken Tribbett, who led the Championship with six interceptions last weekend was one of three defenders named to the weekly Best XI. Tribbett becomes Nashville's second honoree this season after Matt LaGrassa was named to the Team of the Week bench following the first week of the season.

Tribbett was key to Nashville's draw against New York Red Bulls II, making the six interceptions, but also providing five clearances and seven recoveries. The 6'2" center back also was dominant in the air, winning 9 of 11 aerial duals, and 11 of 17 duals overall.

Not only was Tribbet key on the defensive side of the ball, he played a crucial role in Nashville SC's lone goal in the game. Tribbett sent a long ball that landed at the feet of Daniel Ríos after deflecting off a Red Bulls II defender. Ríos took the ball and slotted home Nashville's goal. While Tribbett won't be credited with an assist due to the deflection, his pass directly led to the score.

Tribbett has started all three games for Nashville SC, one of three newcomers to the team to do so this season along with Kharlton Belmar and Daniel Ríos.

Nashville will have a bye week before it returns to action on April 6 at Ottawa Fury FC. NSC returns to First Tennessee Park on Saturday, April 13 to take on rival Memphis 901 FC.
