MONTGOMERY, AL - After an 80-minute rain delay in the ninth inning, Justin Dean lined a two-run single into center field to lift the Mississippi Braves (44-44, 15-4) over the Montgomery Biscuits (39-42, 11-8) 2-1 on a rain-filled Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

The club is on a season-long seven-game win streak and has won 15 of the last 17. The comeback was the M-Braves seventh in the final inning or later this season with four of those coming at Riverwalk Stadium.

The M-Braves pitching staff used four different arms to combine for just one run off six hits.

RHP Kirby Yates started the game after Atlanta transferred his rehab assignment from the FCL Braves. The 2019 All-Star went scoreless through the first inning despite allowing two hits. Atlanta signed Yates as a free agent on November 29, 2021.

LHP Jared Shuster came in after the first inning for his first relief appearance of the season. The left-hander went six innings, allowing one run on three hits. He gave up one walk to eight strikeouts.

Shuster is ranked as Atlanta's No. 7 prospect. He boasts a 2.78 ERA in 90 2/3 innings. He has 22 walks to 106 strikeouts.

LHP Lisandro Santos posted a scoreless frame, making it four innings without a run in three outings since being promoted from High-A Rome on July 12.

The M-Braves broke a Montgomery no-hitter with two outs in the seventh. Hendrik Clementina punched a single through the hole at shortstop.

In the ninth, the M-Braves nearly tied the game in the driving rain. After back-to-back outs, Jalen Miller smoked a base hit to right field. Jordan Cowan followed with an infield single to put two runners on. The game went into rain delay with two on, two out in the ninth.

After an 80-minute delay, Clementina walked to load the bases. Dean delivered the winning two-run single, and RHP Justin Yeager shut the door with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

The second game of the series is on Saturday at Riverwalk Stadium. RHP Darius Vines (5-4, 4.60) makes the start for Mississippi against RHP Evan McKendry (0-4, 3.95) for Montgomery. The first pitch is at 6:05 pm CT, with coverage starting at 5:50 pm CT on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, First Pitch App, and MiLB.tv.
