Dean Dominates; Tigers Win in 15

WILLIAMSPORT, PA- SS Jordan Dean (2-7) hit two RBI triples, including the game-winning triple in the 15th inning to lead the Connecticut Tigers to a 6-5 win over the Williamsport Crosscutters before 2,498 fans at Bowman Field on Saturday night.

The game lasted four hours and 27 minutes second only to the 18 inning game between the Tigers and Vermont Lake Monsters on July 17 that lasted four hours and 56 minutes.

The Tigers scored a single run in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. CF Jake Stewart (1-6) led off with a walk and went to third base on a single by LF Danry Vasquez (2-7). RF Patrick Smith (4-6) singled home Stewart for a 1-0 lead.

The Crosscutters tied the game in the third inning. 1B Cameron Perkins (2-6) hit a two-out single and stole second base. DH Chris Seritella (1-7) singled home Perkins for a 1-1 tied score.

Connecticut went ahead 3-1 on back-to-back home runs by Smith and 2B Devon Travis (1-7) in the fourth inning.

Williamsport CF Kyle Hoppy (1-6) hit an RBI single to score RF Yan Carlos Olmo (1-6) from third base for a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.

In the sixth inning Williamsport C Chace Numata (0-5) reached on an error and SS Tyler Greene (1-4) walked before 2B Gustavo Gonzalez (1-6) smacked a three-run home run over the left field wall for a 5-3 lead.

The Tigers scored two runs in the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-5. Vasquez singled and went to third base on a single by Smith. Travis reached base on a fielder's choice and Vasquez scored. Dean lined a triple to right field to score Travis for a 5-5 tie.

In the 15th inning Smith led off with a single and was sacrificed to second base on a bunt by Travis. Dean lined a triple to right field to score Smith and give the Tigers a 6-5 win.

The Tigers and Crosscutters do battle again on Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. RHP Endrys Briceno (3-2, 5.17) will start for Connecticut and be opposed by RHP Josh Warner (2-4, 3.67) for Williamsport. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
