Daytona Take First Win of Series to End Marauders' Win Streak

BRADENTON, Fla.--- The Marauders (9-5) welcomed a hearty crowd to LECOM Park for Saturday night's Margaritaville-themed promotion. It would not be the dream result for the Baby Buccos, though, as the Tortugas showed some offensive prowess for the first time in the series to take their first win in over a week by a 6-4 final score.
The Marauders were in the driver's seat early, though, thanks to a first-inning RBI single from Javier Rivas that brought Enmanuel Terrero around to score the contest's first run. Rivas would return to the dish in the fourth when he launched a two-run bomb to right to extend the Bradenton lead to 3-0.
Daytona rallied in what would be the game-winning top of the seventh inning when they put up five runs without an out recorded to take a 5-3 lead heading into the stretch.
Bradenton cut the deficit in half in the home seventh when Javier Rivas picked up his fourth RBI of the night on an RBI groundout to push Shalin Polanco across to score, making it 5-4 Daytona with a pair of innings to play.
The Marauders loaded the bases in the eighth inning with just one out but failed to bring in the crucial game-tying run. It was a night of missed chances for the Marauders' offense, who left 12 men on base throughout the game.
Daytona would add an insurance tally in the top of the ninth before handing it off to closer John Murphy, who set the Marauders down in 1-2-3 fashion to end the ballgame. The win went to Joe Menefee for Daytona, with Derek Diamond of Bradenton being handed his second loss of the season.
The series finale is set for a Noon first pitch on Sunday. J.P. Massey is the probable starter for Bradenton.
