THE BIG GAME: The Thunder closes out the first half of its inaugural season with a key home game against the Southern Conference leading Rome Renegades. By virtue of a three-game winning streak, including an awarded victory last week against Carolina. The Thunder has moved into a tie for the fourth and final playoff spot.

TIRED OF THURSDAYS? This is the third and final Thursday home game for the Thunder. Three of the remaining four games are on weekends (three on Saturday, and another on Sunday) the way God intended for football to be played.

YEAH, WE KNOW THESE GUYS. Though this is the Thunder's first season, head coach Ervin Bryson is 1-0 against the Renegades. When coaching for another Daytona Beach team in Another Indoor Football League (AIFL, hee, hee), his team posted a 22-17 victory despite being shutout in the second half. A big reason that team won that game was the play of Nick Allison, who had four interceptions.

YEAH, THOSE GUYS TOO: Two Rome players, John Bowman and Leon Moore, played for that Daytona Beach team last years. Traitors.

BIG MONEY: If 3,500 fans show up at the Ocean Center, owner Zack McDonald will stroke a check for $1,000 for one fan.

WHO'S KICKING THIS WEEK?: The Daytona Beach Thunder's quest for a reliable kicking game may havefinally come to fruition with the addition of Andy Eminger to the roster for this week's game with the Rome Renegades.

Eminger was an American Indoor Football League all-star last season with the Canton Legends, finishing second to Erie's JR Cipra in kicking points with 53. He registered a stout 78.9 percent on his point-after attempts (45-57) in addition to two field goals and a couple of one-point rouges.

"With Andy, we now have the capability of getting those extra points on the kickoffs,'' said Daytona Beach Head Coach Ervin Bryson. "Andy's resume is impressive, so let's see what he can do for us."

Eminger began his career at Euclid High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he converted all 102 point after attempts and 37 of 39 field goals with a long of 52 yards. He also averaged 48.6 yards a punt to garner All Northeast Ohio honors for both punting and placekicking.

He attended attended Ohio State University, Dean Junior College (Mass.) and Florida Atlantic University, where he was a member of Howard Schnellenberger's inaugural FAU team. He was an all-conference player at Dean.

GUYS, LET'S NOT DO THAT AGAIN: The Thunder have fallen behind double figures in the first half in all five games, in three of those games, they've rallied to take the lead back in the third quarter.

QUICK NOTES: Don't mention kicking to us: Rome leads the league in kicking points with 49, we're 12th with 13 ... Brad Lee leads the league in rushing attempts, is second in rushing yards and fifth in rushing touchdowns ... Robert Bailey is seventh in receiving scores ... Allison's six picks are fourth-best in the league.
