DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Daytona Beach Thunder owners Kevin and Zack McDonald have named Antone Smothers as Director of Sales and Marketing.

Smothers comes to the Thunder from Atlanta, where he successfully ran businesses and marketing ventures. His duties for the Thunder will include enhancing the team's sales effort as well as promotions for its inaugural season in the American Indoor Football League.

"This is a very intriguing and exciting opportunity,'' Smothers said. "I'm excited about working for Kevin and Zack and the integrity they bring to the business side of this football team."

A New Smyrna Beach High School and Daytona Beach Community College graduate, Smothers was a project manager for Sugar Creek Homes Inc./ Sugar Creek Properties Inc, where he oversaw $16.5 million in housing inventory.

"It is my privilege to come back home and give to the community that gave me so much while I was growing up,'' said Smothers, whose family moved to New Smyrna Beach in 1973.

Dedicated to establishing itself as an integral part of the local Community through fan and sponsorship participation, the Thunder begins its inaugural season February 2006, with its Ocean Center home opener March 2 against the Raleigh Rebels.
