Daytona Beach Hawgs News Release
BACK ON THE FIELD AND INTO GAME MODE: After Wednesday's practice was cancelled due to rain, the Daytona Beach Hawgs returned to action Thursday with a spirited workout with light contact. "We're now in game mode getting ready for Lakeland on March 19,'' said Heach Coach Ervin Bryson. "We don't need to bang heads all the time, I want to be healthy and at full speed all the time/
HIGHLIGHT ON OFFENSE: RB Brad Lee, Brad Lee, and Brad Lee. Oh, did we mention Brad Lee? "He totally understands what the running gameis all about,'' Bryson said. "Brad Lee is a stud. The receivers are starting to come together. I'm happy with the progress on offense."
HIGHLIGHT ON DEFENSE: DB Micah Simmons continues to work his way into a starting spot.
THE QB SITUATION: "I still don't know what QB we're going to go with,'' Bryson admitted. "We're still working with finding someone who is consistent."
THE LOCALS: OL Steve Canidate (Seabreeze) returned to practice and looked sharp, as did Terrance Butler (Bethune-Cookman) and Robbie Reese (Bethune-Cookman) in regards to moving the defensive line and opening holes for Lee. "All three of the local lineman looked super,'' Bryson said. Tommy Moody did not practice as he was at a Spruce Creek HS track meet.
A CUT: DE Lionel Thompson (Bethune-Cookman) was released Thursday.
NEXT PRACTICE: Friday at 5 p.m. at Derbyshire Field.
