
Dayton Warbirds Join UIF

(Dayton, OH) - The Dayton Warbirds announced today an alignment with 11 other football franchises the beginning of the United Indoor Football Association (UIF), a newly formed indoor league that will begin play in March, 2005.
The Warbirds join the Black Hills Red Dogs (Rapid City, SD), Omaha Beef, Sioux City Bandits, Sioux Falls Storm, Fort Wayne Freedom, Ohio Valley Greyhounds (Wheeling, WV), Evansville Bluecats, Lexington Horsemen, Tupelo Fireants, Tennessee Valley Pythons (Huntsville, AL) and the yet to be named Peoria, IL franchise.
The United Indoor Football Association will boast 3 former league champions and five former conference champions. Eight of the 12 teams have at least four years of operating experience.
"This is a great day for the Dayton Warbirds and the city of Dayton" said Jeffrey A. Jodway, President of the Warbirds. "As an expansion team, you cannot ask for more than to be included with the best of the best in the industry. We are truly honored to be a part of the UIF." Dayton will play in the Midwest Division with Fort Wayne, Ohio Valley, and Peoria. The season will consist of 15 games with playoffs in July.
The Warbirds also announced they will be holding their second tryout on Saturday, November 27th at the Gateway Sports Park in Dayton. Information on the tryouts can be found on the Warbirds website or by calling Head Coach Chris MacKeown at (937) 427-9739.
