Dayton Gems Gameday - Gems Travel to Evansville for Thursday Night

Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems open up a busy three game weekend with a trip to the Ford Center in downtown Evansville, Indiana for a Thursday night rumble with the IceMen at 8pm eastern.

The Gems (13-18-7) most recently split a weekend series against the Rush in Rapid City, earning the Gems first victory over Rapid City and the team's first shutout win of the year 3-0 on Friday night before falling to the Rush 6-0 on Saturday night. Rapid City has made the trip to the Gem City and await Friday night's meeting back at Hara.

Gameday In Evansville

The Gems return to action and conclude their road stand with a weeknight matchup with the Evansville IceMen for Dayton's fourth trip to the brand new Ford Center in Evansville.

Dayton skates into the matchup winless this season against the IceMen while going 0-4-2 in their six prior meetings this season. The last time Dayton visited Evansville, the IceMen would win the game 6-5 on an overtime goal with just seconds remaining in the extra frame.

The IceMen continue to lead the CHL in special teams play, boasting the second best powerplay (22.1%) and league leading penalty kill (86.1%).

Mark the Spot - Dayton's newly acquired netminder Mark Sibbald comes in a trade from Allen. He was named the 10/11 SPHL Goalie of the Year while with the Huntsville Havoc.

All Star Lutes - Brett Lutes represented the Gem City as the lone Gems player participating in the 2012 All Star Game. Luteswould earn two assists and a +5 rating to help his CHL All Star team beat the CHL's Arizona Sundogs 6-4.

New Guys! - The Gems welcome fresh blood to the roster with the addition of forwards Robin Richards and David Nimmo.Nimmo would score in his first game with the Gems on Friday night against the Mallards and again last Sunday against theIceMen.

Mixed Martial Awesome - Friday night's win in Rapid City would see both John Kennedy and Robin Richards drop the mittsand engage in fisticuffs, helping keep momentum with the Gems.

The Closer - Dayton's Tim Hartung sits tied for most Game Winning Goals by a defenseman with 3, while leading the CHL'sblueliners in Shootout Goals with 2.

Powerplay Master - Brandon Naurato remains second best in the CHL in powerplay goals with 8.

Milemarker 20 - Damian Surma earned team leading goals #19 & #20 on Friday night, and picked up his second game winnerof the season.
