Dayton Demonz News Release

Dayton, OH---The third place Dayton Demonz came into Thursday night's game vs. the Danville Dashers with a league-leading 149 goals.  The visiting Dashers featured three of the top six highest scorers in Forwards Andrew Harrison, Gehrett Sargis, and Justin Brausen in what figured to be a high-scoring affair.

The Demonz tallied first as Seth Ronsberg tipped one high over the right shoulder of Matt Anthony 8:04 into the contest.  Less than two minutes later Dayton increased its lead to 2-0 on Jason Pietrasiak's seventh of the year, a slap shot from the right circle.

Danville answered with Forward Gehrett Sargis' 21st goal of the year to cut the deficit in half.  However, Dan Pszenyczny found Ahmed Mahfouz on the power play and the home team regained a comfortable margin.

The visitors once again tightened the contest early in the second on a goal by A.J. Tesoriero, but Robert Vanwynsberghe netted his 25th of the year less than a minute later as action continued to be back and forth.  Ronsberg added his second of the night, from the left slot with 7:06 to play in the period, and Dayton's lead bulged to 5-2.  Despite the three goal lead, shots on goal were 21-20 in favor of Danville after two periods.

Jared Hicks added to the lead, scoring from point blank range midway through the final period.  The Dashers scored on the power play, to cut the lead to 6-3.  The goal, scored by Daniel Turgeon on Sargis' second assist of the game, was his fifth of the season.

Danville netted two cosmetic tallies with less than a minute to play.  The first by James Gordon and the second on the Power Play.  Tesoriero adding his second goal of the night with just 4.6 seconds remaining.  Despite the late scoring, Dayton picked up the win, 6-5.
