
Dawson Named To All-Star Game Starting Lineup

GLENDALE, ARIZONA --- The National Lacrosse League announced today that Arizona Sting forward Dan Dawson has been named to the Western Division starting lineup for the NLL All-Star Game to be played in Calgary, Alberta on Feb. 26.
The 6-foot-5, 218-pound Dawson is having an amazing season for the Sting, collecting 20 goals, 14 assists and 34 points in 6 games. He currently leads all NLL players in goals and ranks tied for second in the League in points. Dawson also shares the League-lead in shorthanded goals with 2. He leads Arizona in both goals and points, and ranks second in assists.
So far this season, Dawson has already captured the NLL Overall Player of the Week and the NLL Offensive Player of the Week awards for both Week #2 and Week #6. He is the only two-time winner of the awards this season. Dawson also finished as one of three finalists for NLL Offensive Player of the Week in both Week #3 and Week #4.
The 23-year-old will be appearing in his first All-Star Game. He is now in his fourth NLL season and has scored 77 goals, 89 assists and 166 points in 49 career NLL games, all with the Arizona/Columbus franchise.
The NLL All-Star Game will be played at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary on Saturday, Feb. 26. The game will be broadcast live on NBC (KPNX Ch. 12) at 12:00 noon Arizona time.
The East and West Division All-Star Teams were determined by the combined votes of the league's general managers, league media, and fans, who voted online at the league's official website. The votes of each of the three groups weighed equally in determining the starting lineups. Other starters for the Western Division included forwards Gary Gait (Colorado) and Tracey Kelusky (Calgary), defensemen Pat Coyle (Colorado) and Jim Moss (San Jose), and goaltender Anthony Cosmo (San Jose). The reserves for the East and West teams are expected to be announced on Monday, February 14.
The Arizona Sting is a professional indoor lacrosse team playing in the National Lacrosse League (NLL). The Sting will play 16 regular season games in 2005 including 8 home games at Glendale Arena.
