Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz News Release

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz were up by as many as 17 points in the second quarter but they were shut out in the third quarter as Louisville came from behind to defeat the Yard Dawgz 47-45 in front of 7,633 fans at the Ford Center. Louisville clinched the game at the :36 second mark of the fourth when Dawgz quarterback threw a pass that caromed off of the iron and in to the hands of Louisville wide receiver/defensive back Dennis Fryzel.

The Dawgz would shut out the Fire offense in the first quarter and lead 10-0 going into the second quarter. The Dawgz got a 15-yard touchdown catch by Al Hunt and a 25-yard field goal by A.J. Haglund.

The second quarter saw these two high-powered offensive units find their groove, but not until the last minute of the half. Louisville started the quarter by getting a 3-yard touchdown catch from Rob Mager from Matt Sauk. The Dawgz countered with a seven-yard touchdown catch by Brandon Daniels from Strickland at the 3:18 mark of the second quarter. Then this is where the game took on the real feel of an arena football game.

With Oklahoma City leading 17-7 at the one minute mark, the two teams would combine for 28-points in the final minute of the quarter. The Dawgz went into the locker room at halftime with a 31-21 lead.

The Fire came out in the third quarter and turned up the "heat" on the Dawgz offensive unit and held them scoreless in the third quarter as Louisville took the lead at the end of the third quarter 35-31.

The Dawgz were not down long as Strickland found Jarrail Jackson for a 41-yard touchdown grab and got the Dawgz back on top 38-35. Louisville came right back and scored on another touchdown grab by Mager, this time from four-yards out giving them a 41-38 lead after a failed extra-point attempt.

The Dawgz once again took over the lead at the 7:50 mark of the fourth when Strickland found Jackson for a ten-yard score giving the Dawgz the 45-41 lead. The Fire then would score the game-winning touchdown at the 3:27 mark on a 13-yard pass from Sauk to Mager.

Louisville offensive specialist Rob Mager was named Offensive Player of the Game for his 17 receptions for 122 yards and five touchdowns. Yard Dawgz wide receiver/linebacker Al Hunt was named Ironman of the Game, and Louiville's Fryzel was named ADT Defensive Player of the Game.

The Yard Dawgz will take to the road for the final time in the 2005 regular season next week as they travel to Hidalgo, Texas to face the Rio Grande Valley Dorados. The Dawgz defeated the Dorados on June 4th 59-35 in the friendly confines of the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.
