WENATCHEE, Wash. - It took 47 minutes and 18 seconds, butwhen Wenatchee Wild forward Jono Davis(La Verne, Calif.) had the opportunity to make an impact in Saturday's gameagainst the Johnstown Tomahawks, he capitalized.
Davis scored the only goal in a hotly contested 1-0 victory over the Tomahawks and Robert Nichols(Dallas, Texas) did the rest, stopping all 18 shots he faced to record hisfourth shutout of the season.
After 2-plus periods of scoreless hockey, Davis'game-changing play came with the Tomahawks on the power play. Davis stole thepuck at the Wild blue line, raced into the Johnstown end uncontested down theright wing and launched a blistering slap shot from the top of the face offcircle that Johnstown goalie Chris Truehl simply had no chance of stopping.
The goal was Davis' 17th of the season and his 30thpoint. It was also his league-leading fourth short-handed marker of the 2012-13campaign and his league-leading sixth game-winning goal.
With the win, Wenatchee managed to earn three standingspoints in their hard-fought weekend series against Johnstown and improved to17-3-2 overall.
