Davey Set to Start in Dragons Home Opener

March 8, 2008 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
New York Dragons News Release

QB Rohan Davey will start in the Dragons home opener versus the Kansas City Brigade tomorrow at Nassau Coliseum at 3:00pm. The Dragons also signed QB Juston Wood, who returns to New York where he spent the 2006 season.

Garcia, who suffered a sprained right knee in Week 1's performance, will take another game to get back to 100 percent.

"Coming off of Rohan's performance in our season opener, we felt Aaron could be afforded another week to heal," said Head Coach Weylan Harding. "We have full confidence in Rohan's ability and opportunity as far as putting us in a position to win the game."

Davey recorded 21 completions on 30 attempts for 249 yards and five touchdowns with one interception versus Cleveland last Monday when he came in for Garcia in the second quarter.

Wood (6-1, 200) backed up Garcia in 2006 and spent last season with the Philadelphia Soul. In his career he has recorded 124 completions on 201 attempts for 1,374 yards and 25 touchdowns despite 13 interceptions. He also added 17 rushes for 64 yards and five touchdowns.

The Dragons have also placed OL Torrin Tucker on Recallable Waivers.

Harding said they are monitoring Garcia but he is expected to play next week when the Dragons head to Philadelphia on March 16th at 2pm. The Dragons return home in Week 5 when they take on the Dallas Desperados on Sunday, March 30th at 3:00pm.

Tickets to all Dragons home games are on sale now. Call 1-866-AFL-TIXX or email ticketinfo@newyorkdragons.com.
