Dave Bestle Named Patroons Vice President And GM

Albany, NY (June 1, 2007) -- The Continental Basketball Association today, in conjunction with the Albany Patroons, announced that current Director of Operations Dave Bestle has been promoted to Vice President and General Manager of the Albany Patroons for the 2007-08 season. Bestle takes the place of Jim Coyne who resigned his position with the Patroons to take the job of Acting Commissioner of the CBA.
Bestle has served as the Director of Operations of the Patroons for the past two seasons. He was responsible for the game day operations for the Patroons, along with the Sales and Promotions for the club. Prior to joining the Patroons, Bestle served in many capacities with the Tri City Valleycats, a Single A Affiliate of the Houston Astros. In his new capacity as Vice President and General Manager, Bestle will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and the overall running of the Patroons.
"I would like to thank Mr. Ben Fernandez for his confidence in my skills to award me this position," said Bestle. "The Albany Patroons are a vital part of the Albany community and I am excited to be able to be able to take the reigns. We will be out in the community and will be making a major effort to make the Patroons and the Armory a place to be for the 2007-08 season."
"Dave was a natural choice to take the place of Jim," said Albany Patroons President Ben Fernandez. "He knows the Patroons inside and out and he will be responsible for our continued success on the business side of the franchise. I look forward to working with Dave in the upcoming season."
"While it is with great sadness that I leave the Patroons for the CBA League Office, I feel confident that they have the best man for the position in Dave," said CBA Acting Commissioner Jim Coyne. "Dave is hard working and well connected in the community and the Patroons are in good hands with him taking over. I would like to thank all of the fans and sponsors who supported the Patroons while I was with them and I would expect their continued support for Dave in the future."
