WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Dash got the better of Bowling Green in a 3-1 win that was undecided up until the eighth inning.

Winston-Salem got on the board in the first inning using the contact and speed of Duke Ellis who led the game off with a ground-rule double and then proceeded to steal third. Two batters later, Oscar Colas would hit a fly ball to center field far enough for Ellis to tag up and come in on the sacrifice fly.

From there, it was a duel of pitching as Winston-Salem's Garrett Schoenle shut down the Hot Rods for five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out four. Wilber Perez would come in and relieve Schoenle in the sixth inning and continue his excellence, throwing a perfect inning. Bowling Green's pitching was no different as Nathan Wiles dazzled the Dash batters after giving up the run in the first, going four innings. Anthony Molina would relieve Wiles and do just the same, even getting Bryan Ramos to ground into a double play in the sixth inning while the Dash had runners on the corners with just one out.

Both Molina, and Perez's replacement,Karan Patel, would run into trouble. In the seventh inning, Patel gave up a lead-off solo home run that tied the game at one but would subsequently get three straight outs. In the top of the eighth, Molina got Terrell Tatum to ground out to lead off the inning, but he'd hit Brandon Bossard, and give up a single to Ellis, setting up the stage for Moises Castillo. Castillo would hit a groundball into left field allowing Bossard to score from second, and Ellis to advance to third. Colas would follow this up with a hit deflecting off of the Bowling Green first baseman, scoring Ellis, making the score 3-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth.

Vince Vannelle shut down the Hot Rods for the final two innings, striking out three Bowling Green batters and not allowing a single hit, getting his second save of the year, while Patel would pick up his second win.
