Dare to Dream scores big at Chrysler Hall

The Norfolk premier of "Dare to Dream: The Story of the U.S. Women's Soccer Team" drew more than a 1,100 local soccer fans to Chrysler Hall Auditorium last night. The Thursday night premiere, an HBO documentary, was co-hosted by Cox Communications and HBO in cooperation with the Virginia Beach Mariners.

Featured guests were Virginia Beach Mariners Coach, Jay Hoffman who also serves as Director of Coaching Academy, Virginia Rush ; Angela Hucles, Midfielder, U.S. Women's Soccer Team; and "Cat" Reddick, U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist. Coach Hoffman served as the assistant coach for the U.S. Women's Soccer Team in 1999. Coach Hoffman related his experiences as their 1999 assistant coach as he recalled the team's challenges, triumphs, and struggles on their road to victory. Angela and Cat provided personal insight into the world of women's soccer. They were available for questions, photos and autographs at a pre-premiere VIP reception.

It was also a great night for Hampton Roads Soccer as players from Beach FC, Chesapeake Select Soccer Club, Old Dominion Soccer Club, NYSL and Virginia Rush as well as members of the Hampton Roads Soccer Council, attended the event honoring women's soccer. Players from the local youth groups were given the opportunity to meet with Hucles, Reddick and Hoffman before and after the premiere for autographs.

DARE TO DREAM: THE STORY OF THE U.S. WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM will premiere on HBO December 11, 2005 at 8 p.m.
