DANVILLE, IL - Four former Danville Dans were selected in this week's Major League Baseball Draft, continuing the proud heritage of player development with the Dans.
Three members of the 2009 Dans roster were selected in the first 12 rounds. LSU shortstop Austin Nola was selected by the Miami Marlins in the fifth round. Arkansas State's Jacob Lee was taken in the 9th round by the Cleveland Indians. Justin Amlung, from Louisville, was picked in the 12th by Chicago Cubs. The 2009 Dans finished 2nd in the West Division with a 32-21 record.
The other Dan selected in this year's draft was San Diego's Bryan Haar, going to the Minnesota Twins in the 34th round.
"We're very excited to see these Dans get picked in the 2012 MLB draft," said Dans managing partner Jeanie Cooke. "These players join around 200 minor leaguers and 19 major leaguers, past and present, who are Dans alumni."
The Danville Dans are celebrating their 25th season of wooden bat college baseball. The Dans are affiliated with the Prospect League (formerly the Central Illinois Collegiate League - CICL).
