Dubois County Bombers News Release
The Hannibal Cavemen (6-5) scored nine runs in the first five innings, and the Dubois County Bombers (9-2) could not keep pace as the Cavemen beat the Bombers 9-6 Saturday night at League Stadium in Huntingburg, Ind.
Kris Gardner earned the win for the Cavemen, holding the Bombers - owners of the Prospect League's best batting average - to four earned runs through seven innings.
Jon Rashid took the loss for the Bombers, giving up three runs in six innings of relief. Rashid came on in relief of struggling Bombers starter Ryan Billo, who pitched three innings and allowed six runs, only two of which were earned.
Ryan Powers pitched a scoreless eighth for the Cavemen, and AJ Martin allowed two unearned runs in the ninth to finish the Bombers.
Hannibal third baseman Tyler Filliben was the offensive star, with three hits in five at-bats as he drove in two runs and scored one himself. Center fielder Kris Goodman chipped in as well, going 2 for 4 with a couple of runs scored, one RBI and a walk.
The teams play each other again Sunday at League Stadium. The game starts at 6:15 p.m.
