LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton/Fort Sill Cavalry dominated the Albany Patroons for three out of fours quarters of board shattering basketball with a final score of 89-77.
Cavs center Shawn Daniels controlled the direction of the game. Daniels crashed the boards pulling down an impressive 16 rebounds making him the game leader. Daniels also put up 17 points to complete his first double-double for the season. He had one turnover, seven assists, and forced five of 16 turnovers from the Patroons.
Playing the same team for consecutive games creates a unique experience for the fans and the players. Cavs sponsor, Mary Seiger from Landmark Engineering said, "It is good to see the same team night after night. The game gets better. The players brought the game together tonight." The view from the court is different than that from the stands.
Cavs guard DeAnthony Bowden said, "It is tough to come out and beat a team three times in a row. We come out and play hard. You don't think about who the top scorer is."
Bowden led the game with a remarkable 23 points.
Game three showed electrifying synergy emerging from the Cavs team powering them to a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio over the Patroons. The Cavs also grabbed 52 total rebounds and went 22 for 30 from the foul line.
The Cavs take on the Albany Patroons one last time for the series Saturday Jan. 10 at the Great Plains Coliseum with tip off at 7:05 p.m.
Cavs Complete Sweep of Patroons
LAWTON, Okla. - The Lawton/Fort Sill Cavalry finished off a four game sweep of the Albany Patroons Saturday night at the Great Plains Coliseum, winning 98-93. The game was close through the first half, with the teams trading off the lead.
The Cavs broke the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Patroons 26-18. Elvin Mims sealed the game with a long 2-point jump shot to put the Cavs up by four with just over a minute to play.
The Cavs teamwork was once again on display with the team threading passes through the defense and shooting above 500 for the night. The Cavs had 22 team assists, a season high.
Cavs center Shawn Daniels had another double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. He ruled the paint for this game and most of the series. Daniels pulled down 48 boards in the series.
Mims, who was 4 for 8 for the night, had 8 rebounds, no turnovers and 2 steals in 36 minutes of play.
The Lawton/ Fort Sill Cavalry return to the Great Plains Coliseum on Friday, Jan. 16 for a the first game of a three game home stand against the East Kentucky Miners. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. Once again all five Cavs starters had point totals in the double digits. DeAnthony Bowden was the top scorer with 23 points in 36 minutes of play. Brandon Dean put up 21 points in his 38 minutes.
