COLUMBUS, GA (JULY 6, 2010) - Defensive Back Damian Daniels, Quarterback Chris McCoy, and Wide Receiver Tirone Morris headline six Columbus Lions who were recently named to the Southern Indoor Football League's first team along with another four named to the second team.

Add an extra accolade to another brilliant season from defensive back Damian Daniels (5'10 185, West Georgia) who can now add All-SIFL First Team to his already long list of previous awards. Daniels, already a two-time Defensive Player of the Year winner, finished tops in the SIFL with 14 interceptions while also leading the Lions in tackles with 33.5. He may not have to wait longer to stock his trophy case with another award, as many around the SIFL expect Damian to be named the 2010 Defensive Player of the Year. It would be an unprecedented feat considering it will have done so in three different leagues (2007-WIFL, 2009-AIFA).

Coming into the season, not much was expected of quarterback Chris McCoy (5'11 195, Navy), especially considering it had been almost a decade since he had played football on the professional level. During the Lions second game, starting quarterback Todd Spitzer suffered an injury forcing McCoy to step in. Since stepping in, Chris has written his name into many SIFL record categories including an April 30th performance against Greenville in which he completed 28 passes. He finished tops in the league in passing TD'S (41), total offensive yards (2,328), and in passing efficiency (105.7), Like Daniels, McCoy may not have to wait long to add to his trophy case because he will be listed among the candidates expected to take home the 2010 Offensive Player of the Year Award.

After constantly being stuck behind other perennial receivers, 2010 had to be considered a breakthrough year for wide receiver Tirone Morris (6'0 195, Florida A&M). In previous seasons, Morris was stuck behind the likes of notable indoor receivers such as Troy Bergeron or Joel Babb, and even behind current teammates Gerald Gales and Anthony Merritt. But in 2010, Tirone came into his own finishing ahead of the pack in the SIFL with 85 receptions and falling four yards shy of 1,000. With the emergence of McCoy at quarterback, Morris became the biggest beneficiary of the switch at quarterback and none so more notable could have been seen on May 29th vs. Louisiana. Despite the loss, Morris grabbed single game SIFL record 16 receptions making it the second time he had either tied or broken the league record.

Others garnering first team honors included defensive lineman Franklin Lloyd (6'0 302, Troy), offensive lineman Dion Small (6'3 310, Troy) and kicker Trey Crum (5'6 170, Delta State). Lloyd finished tops in the SIFL in sacks (9.5) and tackles for a loss (12.5) while Small has been a mainstay on the Columbus 2010 offensive line allowing the second fewest sacks on the year (18). Already full with six player of the week nominations, Crum finished one behind the league leader in Uno's with 22. He led all kickers in scoring (136) on his way to finishing with the best PAT percentage (88%) and field goal percentage (44%).

Others Lions garnering second team honors included: WR Gerald Gales (52 receptions, 725 yards, and 14 TD'S), DL Tramiane Jehovah (four sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two safeties), LB Ryan Babb (22.5 tackles, four INT'S returning two for TD'S, and one sack), and DB Anthony Merritt (27 tackles, six INT'S, and one fumble recovery).
