Danbury Trashers News Release
DANBURY, CTâScott Hollis' four goal effort, including the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the final period snuffed a Danbury 3rd period rally as the Muskegon Fury defeated Danbury 5-3 to advance to the Colonial Cup Finals before a crowd of 2,448 at the Danbury Ice Arena on Saturday night.
For the second straight night the Trashers carried a lead into the dressing room after the first period as John Morlang scored the first of two goals on a shorthanded tally with 10 seconds remaining in the period.
However the second frame was a furious one for Muskegon as they scored three unanswered goals, the first two from Hollis and the third from Robin Bouchard, his seventh of the series to take a 3-1 lead into the final period.
Danbury rallied back in the final period as Mario Larocque's 3rd playoff goal came on the power play at 0:42 of the period while Morlang's second goal tied the score at the 6:09 mark of the period from Nicholas Bilotto and Jeff Daw.
Hollis' game-winning goal occurred at the 18:46 mark while his fourth goal was an empty netter just 24 seconds later.
Scott Stirling stopped 22 of 26 shots while Sly Daigle saved 23 of 26 in the win. The Fury awaits the winner of the Fort Wayne/Rockford series that will determine their opponent in the Colonial Cup Finals. The Icehogs lead the series three games to one.
