Danbury Signs Forward Uni Blöndal

DANBURY - The Danbury Hat Tricks announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Uni Blöndal on a PTO contract for the 2026-27 season.
Blöndal, 20, has spent the last four seasons playing for Skautafélag Akureyrar in the Icelandic Men's Hockey League. The Icelandic forward also spent parts of two seasons at the junior level in Sweden with Göta/Traneberg and Sollentuna HC.
Across four professional seasons, the forward has tallied 26 goals and 26 assists in 59 games for Skautafélag Akureyrar. In 2025-26, he also played 3 games for Jötnarnir, collecting 1 goal and 3 assists. He now heads to Danbury for his first venture into professional hockey in The States.
Head Coach John Bierchen offered comment on this signing, saying, "We think Uni could be a real 'diamond in the rough' find that can contribute big for our 3rd and 4th lines. We're happy we were able to come to an agreement and get him into camp all the way from Iceland."
