Dallas Jackals News Release
Marcos Moroni, Juan Pablo Zeiss, Jeronimo Gomez Vara, and Connor Robinson registered tries in frigid temperatures as the Dallas Jackals were edged 24-22 by the Chicago Hounds at SeatGeek Stadium on Saturday night.
The Jackals charged down the pitch on the very first possession of the match, recording the first try of the Dog Bowl.
Chicago responded with a try of their own, but Juan Pablo Zeiss had the answer. The Jackals pushed a phase all the way down the pitch and appeared to take a 15-10 lead into halftime, but an obstruction against Dallas negated the try.
Dallas saw less possession in the beginning of the second half, but turned that around in the closing 20 minutes. After falling behind by 11 points, the Jackals rallied with 12 points to gain a late 22-21 advantage. Gomez Vara whizzed through a handful of Hounds after receiving a pass from Moroni, cutting the deficit to six points. The following conversion was successful by Adriaan Carelse. Robinson got the Pack ahead with his try in the 68th minute.
However, a penalty kick in the closing minutes tilted the score in favor of the Hounds.
Dallas was unable to capitalize on their march down the pitch during the game's final phase. Chicago held on to win 24-22.
The Jackals picked up two points in the standings: 1 for posting four tries and 1 for coming within seven points of Chicago at the end.
