
Daleo, Joerger Honored Again

Boise, Idaho (Jan. 1, 2003)â The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Chris Daleo of the Rockford Lightning, and Dave Joerger of the Dakota Wizards, were respectively named American Conference and National Conference Coaches of the Months for December. This is their second consecutive such honor this season.
In his rookie season at the helm of a CBA team, Daleo has led the Lightning to an American Conference best 13-6 record and 4.4 quarter point average (83.5 total). In December Rockford posted a conference best 7-4 record and 4.4 quarter point average (48.5 total). The Lightning are averaging 131.9 points per game, 1.7 points off the all time record set by the Rochester Zeniths in 1980-81. Rockford is also averaging 2 steal per game more than the all-time CBA record set by the 1990-91 Quad City Thunder.
Joerger, the reigning CBA Coach of the Year, earned his fifth Coach of the Month award in the six months that make up his CBA head coaching career. In December he led the Wizards to a National Conference best 7-5 record and a 4.08 quarter point average (49 total). The Wizards lead the conference with a 14-6 record (4.8 quarter point average). Joerger also helped produce a Player of the Week award for forward Andy Panko (12/08-12/14).
Also receiving consideration for Coach of the Month in the American Conference was Gary's Duane Ticknor (8-4, 3.8 quarter point average). In the National Conference, Yakima's Bill Bayno (6-5, 3.7 quarter point average) was the other candidate.
