Bismarck, ND (May 14, 2002)— The 2002 CBA Champion Dakota Wizards announced today that 2002 CBA Coach of the Year Dave Joerger, has been awarded a two-year contract extension through the 2003-04 season.

Joerger guided the Wizards to a CBA best 26-14 record and 4.33 quarter point average in the team's first year in the league. The Wizards also have extended the contract of Assistant Coach/Director of Player Personnel Casey Owens to a one-year contract.

"It's been an honor to be a part of this great organization and to have the faith of the ownership and management in me," said Joerger. "It allows me to focus on the goal of bringing another championship to Bismarck."

Wizards General Manager Alex Geche agrees that the signing of Joerger and Owens is the first step towards another run at the CBA championship. "We wanted to sign them early to ensure we would maintain our grasp on the top coaching staff in minor league basketball" said Geche.

"Dave and Casey brought the most decorated player in CBA history (Miles Simon) to Bismarck, and we look forward to bringing more high quality talent to the fans in Bismarck next season."

In 2001-02 Wizards guard Miles Simon became the first player in CBA history to win three annual awards, earning MVP, Top Newcomer and Playoff MVP honors.
