Odessa, TX: The Odessa Roughnecks are proud to announce that the first player from the 2006 IFL season has been called up to the next level. Roughnecks defensive lineman Marcus Adams has been recalled by the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. Adams, a three year vet of the CFL, was playing in Odessa while trying to earn his way back to Saskatchewan. In his three weeks with the Roughnecks, Adams recorded a league-leading eight sacks and was atop the IFL in QB pressures.

When asked about the move, Marcus stated, "It is bitter sweet, leaving a great situation and a great team here with the Roughnecks. I am excited about moving up, especially to a place that is familiar to me like Regina (Saskatchewan, Canada)."

"This is what we are here for," stated head coach Mike Esposito, "It is great to see one of our young men move up to the next level and advance his career."

Adams and the Roughnecks have started the season where last years team left off with three straight wins. The Roughnecks will travel to San Angelo this Saturday, May 20th to face the Stampede Express and will host the same team the following week on Saturday, May 27th at the Ector County Coliseum. The first 1,000 fans at the game will receive a free Roughnecks Travel Bag compliments of NewsWest 9.

Further information on these or any other Roughnecks topics can be obtained by calling the teams office at (432) 332-PASS (7277) or by logging on to www.RoughnecksIFL.com.
