WEDNESDAY NIGHT HIGHLIGHTS...top performers from Tuesday's games
Colorado's Elton Brown recorded a double-double, leading all scorers with 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds en route to the 14ers 11-point victory over Iowa.
Steven Smith scored a game-high 28 points as Rio Grande Valley fell short at Anaheim. The Arsenal's offensive charge was led by CJ Watson who tallied 26 points, including 10-of-10 from the free throw line.
COBY KARL ASSIGNED TO D-FENDERS: The Lakers' Coby Karl was assigned to the L.A. D-Fenders yesterday, making him the 11th player to be assigned this season. A Boise State graduate and a three-time Western Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection, Karl appeared in two games for the Lakers this season. Karl, the son of Denver Nuggets head coach George Karl, averaged 14.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.0 assists during his senior season and left Boise State as the all-time leader in games played (127) and three-pointers made (266). The D-Fenders also acquired Stephane Lasme and waived Marcus White due to injury yesterday.
PHOENIX SUNS ALANDO TUCKER ASSIGNED TO ALBUQUERQUE: The 29th overall selection in the 2007 NBA Draft, Alando Tucker was yesterday assigned by the Suns to the Thunderbirds. Tucker has made appearances in two games for Phoenix this season, averaging 6.0 points and 1.0 rebounds in 8.0 minutes of action. A product of the University of Wisconsin, Tucker finished his college career as the all-time leading scorer with 2,217 points, averaging 16.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 134 games. During his senior season he earned Big Ten Player of the Year and was named First-Team All-American by the Associated Press. Tucker is the 12th NBA player to be assigned to the D-League this season.
