PERFORMER OF THE WEEK: Jawad Williams of the Anaheim Arsenal is the D-League Performer of the Week for February 20. He is the first player from Anaheim to earn the honor this season. In the week's regular season games, Williams averaged 27.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting .533 (32-of-60) from the field. Williams started at forward for the Western Division team in Saturday's D-League All-Star Game, scoring 11 points with five rebounds in 27 minutes of action.
CELTICS ASSIGN RAY TO TOROS: The Boston Celtics assigned rookie guard Allan Ray to the Austin Toros on Tuesday. Ray has appeared in 33 games for Boston, averaging 4.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per game at the time of the assignment. He is the 18th NBA player assigned to a D-League affiliate this season
USING THE SYSTEM: Twenty-five (25) NBA teams have taken advantage of the assignment system to assign 43 players to D-League affiliates since the start of the 2005-06 season.
THEY SAID IT: "And hopefully when he comes back he has Dennis' body. Well, not his current body, the body that he used to play with and win championships with." ... Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers on guard Allan Ray being assigned to the Austin Toros and coach Dennis Johnson, a former Celtics great.
THE DREAM CONTINUES: The first episode of "NBA D-League: The Dream Starts Here" aired on ESPN2 on Monday, Feb. 19. The next four airdates are: Episode 2 - February 28, Episode 3 - March 5, Episode 4 - March 12 and Episode 5 - March 21.
