GREENVILLE, S.C., Feb. 21, 2007 - The Los Angeles Clippers today signed guard Von Wafer of the Colorado 14ers of the NBA Development League to a 10-day contract, it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations Elgin Baylor.
Currently the leading scorer in the D-League among active players, Wafer is averaging 20.5 points in 32 games with Colorado. The former Florida State standout is also averaging 3.3 assists per game.
The 6-5, 210 pound guard was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round (39th overall) of the 2005 NBA Draft. Wafer appeared in 16 games with the Lakers during the 2005-06 season, averaging 1.3 points per game. He scored a career-high nine points against Utah on Jan. 3, 2006. Wafer was waived by the Lakers on Oct. 26, 2006.
