Arkansas at Austin: Series tied 2-2. Teams combining for an average of
208.1 points over four games.
Fayetteville at Roanoke: Dazzle leads 4-2. First home game for Dazzle since
Dec. 31.
WELCOME BACK: Not only is Roanoke playing its first home game of the New Year, tonight's game against Fayetteville marks the return to Southwest Virginia for former Virginia Tech star Bryant Matthews, who was acquired by Roanoke in a trade with Albuquerque on January 3.
CHECK OUT THIS LANG GUY: Since James Lang was moved into the Arkansas starting lineup following Pape Sow's recall to the Toronto Raptors on January 18, he has averaged 22.3 points and 12.3 rebounds, up from 4.9 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19 games off the bench. He has recorded a double-double in three of the four games since joining the RimRockers first five.
SERVING THE PIZZA: In his first extended playing time since joining the Fort Worth Flyers four games ago, former Golden State point guard and "Cold Pizza" star Aaron Miles played 29 minutes Thursday, dishing out 10 assists and turning the ball over just twice.
SECOND CHANCE: After being taken with the Florida Flame's final selection in the 2005 D-League Draft and then waived during training camp, Torrian Jones is making the most of his second go-around with coach Jeff Malone's club. Since being reacquired two games ago he is averaging 32.0 minutes, 18.0 points and 3.0 assists off the bench, while converting 10-of-19 FGA (.526) and 15-of-17 FTA (.882).
THEY SAID IT: "It gave me an opportunity to keep polishing my game. I was able to get a lot of playing time at (point guard) and see what it takes to run a team." Timberwolves guard Bracey Wright told the Indianapolis Star when questioned about what playing in the D-League (Florida Flame) did for him.
