Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
EL SEGUNDO, CA - The Los Angeles D-Fenders will select thirteenth in the 2008 NBA Development League Draft, it was announced today. At the League's annual Fall Meetings in Dallas, TX, the Tulsa 66ers won the 2008 NBA D-League draft lottery and will have the first overall selection.
The 2008 NBA D-League's Draft will take place live from the NBA TV studio in Atlanta, GA. The eighth-annual event will be telecast on NBA TV and streamed on-line (www.nba.com/dleague) beginning at 7 pm EST.
The NBA D-League Draft utilizes a "serpentine" format, meaning the order will alternate in each of the ten rounds. For example, the team picking last in the first round will select first in the second round, giving them the 16th and 17th overall choices.
"The 2008 NBA D-League Draft will feature more than 160 talented prospects, many of whom will have recently competed in NBA training camps and summer leagues," said Chris Alpert, NBA D-League Vice President of Basketball Operations and Player Personnel. "Past players selected in the NBA D-League Draft have gone on to successful careers in the NBA."
Each of the NBA D-League's 16 teams will be given one pick in each of the 10 rounds. No trades will be permitted during the draft and only players signed to an NBA Development League Standard Player Contract are eligible to be selected.
The order of the first round will be:
Tulsa 66ers
Colorado 14ers
Idaho Stampede
Sioux Falls Skyforce
Bakersfield Jam
Fort Wayne Mad Ants
Erie BayHawks
Anaheim Arsenal
Utah Flash
Reno Bighorns
Dakota Wizards
Rio Grande Valley Vipers
Los Angeles D-Fenders
Albuquerque Thunderbirds
Iowa Energy
Austin Toros
