EL SEGUNDO, CA - Los Angeles D-Fenders head coach Dan Panaggio will lead the Lakers entry in this year's NBA Summer League presented by EA Sports which features 53 games over eleven days at the COX Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Panaggio led Los Angeles to a 32-18 record, good for second best in the NBA Development League during the 2007-08 season, and their first postseason appearance in franchise history. Panaggio will be joined in Vegas by D-Fenders assistant coaches Chucky Brown and Rasheed Hazzard.
Several former D-Fenders players are participating in the various summer leagues, looking to earn an invitation to an NBA training camp. Notable D-Fenders in summer league action are the franchise's first NBA Gatorade Call-ups Jelani McCoy, with the Denver Nuggets in Las Vegas, and Stephane Lasme, with the Miami Heat in the Orlando Pro Summer League. Coby Karl, who was assigned to the D-Fenders during the 2007-08 season, will play under coach Panaggio for the Lakers.
