Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - After splitting their first two games of the season with Dakota by a combined three points, the D-Fenders opened their home schedule with a resounding 135-103 victory over the Reno Bighorns in front of a sold out crowd Monday night at Toyota Sports Center. In his first game at home as D-Fenders head coach, Eric Musselman saw his club eclipse the team record for largest margin of victory (28, 1/4/08 vs. Dakota) while falling just three points shy of the team record for points scored in a single game.
D-Fenders Brian Hamilton, who received player of the game honors, scored 26 points on 11-of-14 shooting and grabbed five rebounds. His break-away dunk off one of his five steals with 3:11 to go in the third quarter pretty much summed up the night for The D-Fenders. The dunk capped an 8-0 run by the D-Fenders to push the lead to 20. Reno (0-3) was unable to chip away at the lead, only coming as close as 17 after a Blake Ahern free throw. Ahearn paced his squad with a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists.
Brandon Costner continued his torrid shooting for the D-Fenders with 22 points after going 6-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.
Additionally, newly acquired Elijah Millsap, coming to the D-Fenders earlier in the day in a trade with Tulsa, finished with 22 points in 29 minutes off the bench. Courtney Fortson added 21 points (7-9 FG), a team-high eight rebounds and eight assists, Zach Andrews posted 19 points and seven rebounds and Jamaal Tinsley handed out a game-high 13 assists in the win. The D-Fenders next game is a 7:00 pm rematch with the Bighorns Wednesday, November 30 at Toyota Sports Center, the Lakers practice facility in El Segundo, CA.
For the first time ever, the D-Fenders are offering season ticket packages for the 2011-12 season that include special Lakers ticket purchase opportunities as well as various other incentives. Walk-up day of game general admission and courtside tickets are also still available for most home games. Ticket information is available on the team's website (www.d-fenders.com) or by contacting Nima Behboodi at (310) 426-6043 / nbehboodi@d-fenders.com.
