Los Angeles D-Fenders News Release

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - The Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBA Development League have acquired center Nick Lewis and guard Daniel Horton. Lewis and Horton fill the two roster spots vacated when Aloysius Anagonye left the team and Jeremee McGuire was waived.

Nick Lewis (6-10, 240), a second-year pro from the University of San Diego, had been playing in Belgium for Passe Partout Groot Leuven, where he averaged 7.6 points and 3.0 rebounds. Daniel Horton (6-3, 205), an undrafted rookie out of Michigan, played in one preseason game for the Miami Heat this season and scored six points in 22 minutes against the New Orleans/Okla. City Hornets. An All-Big Ten performer and 2003 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Horton averaged 14.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 110 games for the Wolverines.

Anagonye played in 22 games for Los Angeles this season, averaging 10.5 points and 5.9 rebounds in 29.9 minutes per game. McGuire played in 6 games this season, averaging 1.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 8.2 minutes per game.

Lewis will wear temporary jersey #2 and Horton will wear temporary jersey #3.

Having a Lakers ticket for a STAPLES Center home game is also your ticket to a lower level seat for the D-Fenders. Lakers season ticket holders who attend a D-Fenders home game will receive a special gift, while supplies last, by visiting the Season Ticket Holder Booth on the main concourse at the Figueroa Street Entrance.

On July 31, 2006 the Los Angeles Lakers announced that they had become the first NBA franchise in history to own an NBA Development League team. The Los Angeles D-Fenders play their home games at STAPLES Center pre and post Lakers home games. The Lakers devoted fans were given the opportunity to name the NBA D-League team in an online naming contest.
