Quad City Mallards News Release
CINCINNATI, Ohio - Andrew Yogan scored two goals and added an assist and Mark Visentin made 30 saves as the host Cincinnati Cyclones (4-5-0) halted the Quad City Mallards' (4-3-0) four-game winning streak by claiming a 4-1 victory Wednesday night.
Gabryel Boudreau gave Cincinnati a lead it would never relinquish by opening the scoring on a 2-on-1 rush with a rising drive from the left wing circle at 5:32 of the first period.
At 15:10 of the first, Shawn O'Donnell's tip-in doubled the Cyclone lead just four seconds into a Cincinnati power play.
The Cyclones emerged from the opening period on top 2-0 despite being out-shot 15-5. Visentin was at his best in stonewalling the Mallards in the first.
The Mallards battled within a goal while on the power play themselves when Chris Francis one-timed the puck home from the left wing circle at 2:53 of the second period.
With the Mallards down two men Yogan extended the Cyclone lead to 3-1 from the slot at 12:55 of the second.
Yogan struck again from close range to finish off the Mallards at 13:35 of the third period. The Mallards fell despite out-shooting Cincinnati 31-15.
The Mallards return to action on the road Saturday night against the Indy Fuel. The Mallards next play at home Sunday, November 6 at 4:05 p.m. against Cincinnati. Fans can bring their skates and join the Mallards on the ice for a postgame skate after that game.
