Cyclones Fall in Richmond, 4-5
The Pee Dee Cyclones traveled to Richmond, Virgina Saturday night in hopes of ending a five-game losing streak, but were unable to come up with the win. Cyclones' Jeff Marler got on the boards early with a powerplay goal coming at the 2:58 mark of the first. Richmond would answer a few minutes later with a goal from Dean Jackson. Soon after, Cyclones' Brian Boike was able to get one past Renegades' netminder Jay Chrapala, putting Pee Dee up by one. However, RIchmond converted on a power play, tying the score at two as the first period ended. The second period saw two early goals, one from Richmond's Danny White at the 1:41 mark and answering for Pee Dee was defenseman Jason Slusher at the 2:35 mark. The teams were tied at three going into the final period of play. The Renegades were able to put up two goals in the third, making the score 3-5. Pee Dee's Allan Sirois would attempt to fuel a comeback with his powerplay goal coming at the 16:22 mark. However, the Cyclones were unable to get another shot past Chrapala, making the final score; Pee Dee 4, Richmond 5. Cyclones' goalie, Guy St. Vincent, ended the night with 24 saves on 29 shots. Cyclones' adding assists were: Josh Vanderbreggen, Dan Hickman, Jason Slusher, Allan Sirois, Art Mnatsakanov, and Edan Welch. The Cyclones will be back in action at home on Friday, December 8th as they play host to the Fayetteville FireAntz.
