Cyclones Drop Another to Richmond in OT, 6-5

January 19, 2007 - SPHL (SPHL)
Twin City Cyclones News Release

Despite strong offensive performances, the Cyclones were only able to pull one point out of the night against the Richmond Renegades.

The Cyclones got on the board first with a goal at the 2:34 mark from Allan Sirois. Twenty-nine seconds later, Richmond managed to add one of their own to make the score one all. Pee Dee's Daryl Moore put the Cyclones ahead, but Richmond got two more past Cyclones' netminder, Guy St. Vincent, to make the score 3-2 going into the first intermission.

Richmond struck first in the second, with a power play goal coming at the 2:49 mark. Half-way into the second stanza, Pee Dee newcomer John Gurskis lit the lamp, pulling the Cyclones within one. With a minute and three seconds remaining in the period, Cyclones' Captain Chris Crombie scored on a power play goal to tie the score at 4-4.

Crombie decided to repeat soon in the final stanza, converting on yet another power play. However, the Renegades JJ Wrobel put another on the board to even the score at 5-5, forcing overtime. Wrobel struck again eleven seconds into OT, giving Richmond the win.

The Cyclones will be back in action tomorrow night to face the Columbus Cottonmouths. Game time is set for 7:10PM at the Florence Civic Center. It's Health Awareness Night, so come out and support local health professionals and enjoy great giveaways and free screenings! For more information contact the Cyclones at 843-432-1234.
