Twin City Cyclones News Release
The Pee Dee Cyclones will be looking to end their current five game winless streak (0-4-1) when they hit the road for games in Huntsville (on Wednesday) and in Knoxville (on Thursday). The Cyclones will return to the Florence Civic Center for their last home game until January 13th on Saturday night (New Years Eve) @ 7:35PM against the first place Fayetteville Fire Antz. Pee Dee begins the week in sixth place in the SPHL with a record of 9 wins-12 losses- 3 overtime losses.
Upcoming games & promotions:
Wednesday, December 28th @ Huntsville Havoc (8:00PM Eastern). First visit of the year to Huntsville, Alabama and the Von Braun Center. The third meeting of the year overall against the Havoc with Pee Dee leading the season series 2-0, winning the last game at the FCC on December 8th by a 5-3 margin. Thursday, December 29th @ Knoxville Ice Bears (7:30PM). It's the fifth meeting of the year against Knoxville. The Ice Bears lead the season series 3-1. Knoxville is currently tied with the Florida Seals for second place in the SPHL with a record of 13 wins-8 losses-4 overtime losses. At the Knoxville Civic Center, the Ice Bears are 6-1-1. Saturday, December 31st vs. Fayetteville Fire Antz (7:35PM) @ Florence Civic Center. Start your New Years Eve celebration at the Florence Civic Center as the âClones entertain our arch rivals from North Carolina. It will be the seventh game of the "Press Box I-95 Challenge Cup Series" with the Fire Antz leading the series 5 games to 1. Fayetteville starts the week in first place in the SPHL with an outstanding record of 18 wins-4 losses-2 overtime losses and is 13-0 at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville. Promotion: The Cyclones will be wearing special black New Years jerseys during the game which will be auctioned off to lucky fans.
Cyclones Player Notes:
Defenseman Dan Pszenyczny remains on the 30 day injured reserve list recovering from a lower body injury. Forward Mark Allen remains day to day with an upper body injury. Forwards Edan Welch & Shaun Aebig lead the team in scoring with 30 points each. Welch has 16 goals-14 assists while Aebig has 8 goals & 22 assists. Trevor Karasiewicz is right behind them with 29 points (8 goals & 21 assists). Forward Chris Murphy leads the team in penalty minutes with 127 in 23 games.
