Cyclones Announce Roster Changes

Winston Salem, NC- In the middle of a late season run for a playoff position the Twin City Cyclones members of the Southern Professional Hockey League, the leader in Single "A" hockey, announced several roster changes today. The Cyclones are currently tied for the fourth and final playoff spot in the SPHL and are four points out of second place.

Russell Smith, a defenseman, was assigned to Bloomington of the International Hockey League. Smith had 3 goals, 15 assists and 118 penalty minutes in 32 games with the Cyclones prior to his move to the Bloomington Prairie Thunder.

The Cyclones filled his defensive roster slot by claiming defenseman Jared Siganuk, 21 off waivers from the Knoxville Ice Bears. Siganuk, height--6.02, weight--215, is in his first year of professional hockey. The native of Williamstown, NJ had one assist and 94 minutes in penalties appearing in 41 games with the Ice Bears.

The Cyclones also added additional experience to their lineup with the signing of veteran forward Bogdan Rudenko, 31, height--6.0, weight-200. The Kazakhstan native has 10 years of professional experience previously playing in the United Hockey League and the ECHL. He posted 26 goals, 23 assists and 147 penalty minutes with Fort Wayne and Flint of the United Hockey League in the 2006-07 season. Lastly, forward Matt McGilvray who appeared in 23 games recording one goal and four assists was placed on waivers.

General Manager Sean Cowan said "that the signing of Rudenko along with the recent addition of Josh Piro and the expected return from injured reserve status of Allan Sirois is adding experience and size for the team's critical playoff drive."

The Cyclones return to action this coming weekend with games at Richmond and Fayetteville Friday February 6th and Saturday February 7th. The team returns to home ice Sunday February 8th with a 4:30 PM faceoff against Huntsville. Upper level tickets are on sale for $5.
