CyberRays to scrimmage Cal on Saturday at Evergreen Valley

SAN JOSE (March 3, 2003) – The San Jose CyberRays will play Cal at 3 p.m. Saturday in a preseason scrimmage at Evergreen Valley College, 3095 Yerba Buena Road in San Jose.

Admission to this special event is free, but the parking fee and concession revenues will benefit the school's athletic program.

Fans can register at the game to win free passes for two to a special pre-premiere screening of the acclaimed movie ``Bend It Like Beckham'' on Tuesday, March 18. The movie, which premieres nationwide in early April, is the story of Jess, the daughter of an Indian family in London, who has the unorthodox dream of playing professional soccer like her hero, England national team star David Beckham. It features an appearance by CyberRays captain Brandi Chastain, highlights from WUSA games and scenes at Santa Clara University. The movie is rated PG-13, Parental Guidance strongly suggested for children 13 and under.

The CyberRays also will be selling collector's item 2002 game-worn white (away) jerseys at $80 each. The white game jerseys have all patches and are available in all player names and numbers.

The CyberRays open their 2003 season at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 5 against the Philadelphia Charge in Spartan Stadium. Season tickets are on sale now at CyberRays Tower, 1991 Park Ave., in San Jose or online at http://www..sjcyberrays.com/tickets/tix_seasontix.html.
