San Jose CyberRays News Release
SAN JOSE (June 18, 2003) â CyberRays defender Amanda Cromwell, who has started and played the last seven matches for the team, has been elevated from the reserve to the active roster.
To make room on the 16-player active roster for Cromwell, midfielder Ann Cook was waived.
Cromwell, 33, from Orlando, Fla., was claimed March 31 â a week before the current season â after being waived by the Atlanta Beat, with whom she played the 2002 season. Cromwell played in 2001 for the Washington Freedom.
She made her first CyberRays' appearance April 27 when she subbed into the game against the San Diego Spirit in the 65th minute. Since then she has started and played every minute of every CyberRays game. In the off-season Cromwell is head soccer coach at the University of Central Florida.
Cook, 28, from Springfield, Mo., is one of the original 2001 CyberRays and was traded to the Washington Freedom, where she played the 2002 WUSA season. In February she was re-signed by the CyberRays as a free agent. She started two matches and appeared in a total of five matches this season.
