(Denver, CO) - One night after a 4-1 win by the Rapid City Rush, the Denver Cutthroats countered with a victory in their own building by the same margin on Saturday night. The Cutthroats used 34 saves by Kent Patterson goals from four different skaters for the 4-1 triumph. The two teams hit the ice again on Monday in a New Years Eve celebration at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Tickets are available by calling the Rush office at 716-7825 or online 24-hours a day at gotmine.com.

The Cutthroats got the offense rolling early when Chris Greene buried a wrap around for the 1-0 lead, marking his third straight game with a goal. Near the midway point, the Cutthroats were awarded a penalty shot, but Troy Schwab's effort was denied by Tim Boron, keeping the game close. However, just over three minutes later, Denver was able to double the lead when Todd Orlando sent a wrist shot in from the high slot for his first of the season.

It took until the 12:01 mark of the second, but the Rush were able to respond and cut the lead in half on Scott Wray's 10th of the season, joining fellow veteran Jarrett Konkle as the lone Rush players to reach the double-digit plateau. In the closing minutes of period, though, the Cutthroats made it a 3-1 game when Jeff Neitenbach capitalized on a 2-on-1 chance for his first professional goal.

Three minutes into the final frame, the Cutthroats put the nail in the coffin with a goal from Troy Schwab whose backhand from the right circle made it 4-1.
