Denver Cutthroats News Release
DENVER, CO - As the start of the 2012-13 season approaches, 29 players will report for the Denver Cutthroats inaugural training camp tomorrow hoping to secure a spot on the team's opening night roster.
Players will go through off-ice testing over the weekend, and then take the ice for the first time on Monday, competing for the opportunity to be a part of the club's season opening weekend on October 19 and 20.
"As a coaching staff we've been waiting a long time for this and now it is here," said Cutthroats Head Coach Derek Armstrong. "Players have arrived and it's time to start competing. It's time to figure out who wants to be on our opening night roster and who is going to give us the best chance to win as a team every night."
The Cutthroats will travel to Rapid City, South Dakota on Friday, October 12 and Saturday, October 13 for a pair of preseason games against the Rush. That Sunday the team squares off against the Tulsa Oilers in Dodge City, Kansas.
"Preseason games are good not just for the on-ice competition and seeing the look of a different team across the ice, but it also gets our players on the road together to get to know each other and start building that team bond," added Armstrong.
The Cutthroats will be on the ice at Edge Ice Arena from October 8-11, before their preseason road trip, and then camp shifts to the Denver Coliseum from October 16-18. Practices on October 8 and 9 are open to the public from 8:00-11:00 AM. Practices at the Denver Coliseum on October 16 and 17 are also open to the public from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM.

CHL Teams must have their final rosters into the league office on October 18 for the start of the 2012-13 campaign. A CHL roster consists of 19 players. 18 players dress for games with one healthy scratch, and teams are allowed only six "veteran" players on their roster. A "veteran" is considered a player who's appeared 301 professional games or more in their career - goaltenders are exempt from the "veteran" rule.
Opening weekend for the Cutthroats to begin the 2012-13 season is set for October 19 and 20 when they host the Missouri Mavericks at the Denver Coliseum. Puck drop is set for 7:05 PM.
