
Cutters Hold On vs. Bombers

Your Cane Cutters split the 2 game series with the 1st place Brazos Valley Bombers in Bryan, TX.
Chance Vincent (University of Alabama) got things started in the 1st inning by getting an RBI groundout, scoring Cameron Cummings (University of Southern Alabama). Adam Yacek (Miami of Ohio) would single in Jamez Ziegler
(Chandler-Gilbert CC) later that inning to put the Cane Cutters on top 2-0 going
into the 2nd inning.
Vincent and Zak Kutsulis (Notre Dame) each had RBI singles in the 3rd and 4th innings respectively. These runs brought the lead to 5-0 over the Bombers in the 4th inning.
Cummings would single in the 6th inning, driving in Jalen Haskins (Pearl River JC). Haskins would have his own single in the top of the 7th inning, driving in Yacek to make the lead 7-0.
Daniel Martinez (University of New Orleans) shined brightly in his start going 6 innings, while allowing 0 runs, 1 walk, 3 hits and 7 strikeouts.
Remey Reed started for the Bombers and went 5 innings, giving up 6 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 5 batters.
The Bombers would roar back and put up 6 runs, however, the Cane Cutters would hold on to win 7-6.
The Cutters are now 19-12 and are 5 games behind the 1st place Bombers.

Science Night is also Tuesday, July 14, 2015 and it will feature a telescope from the Lafayette Science Museum and a selfie machine from the Lafayette Public Library. Additionally, Bricks 4 Kidz will bring legos and a robot and the UL Chemistry Department will have their own exciting demonstrations. Kids can also sign up for baseball camps on July 14th and 15th.
